Studying Overwhelm is Making Me Overwhelmed
Bouncing from one Presentation to the Next, and the Next, and the...
Podcast Movement Evolutions was fun. While it still looks like a podcast for indies (I did hear good things about the speakers and presentations), this seems to be a bit more “Business to Business” or as the cool kids say, “B2B.” Here is what I learned:
Life without wi-fi is awful. The hotel’s system was )at least on the 24th floor) the worst I’ve encountered and for the most part was about 90% of the time unreachable (not PME’s fault - this was a hotel thing).
I can survive eating once a day and drinking lots of water (down 3 lbs). This means I am probably eating “cause it’s time,” or I’m just bored.
I expect my breakfast cereal to now come “with AI” as everything now has AI
I felt bad for the app, which bills itself as “By podcasters for podcasters” which has me intrigued as I feel it should be “for listeners” as it is a listening app.
We have Capsho. We have Swellai. I’m not sure we need another “upload your audio and AI will spit out text” tools. It comes back to that hard question, “How are you going to be different.”
Tom Webster is awesome at card tricks.
The thing that really made me smile was at one point a Libsyn customer came up to the booth. I showed her the interface and how to get the most out of Libsyn. It wasn’t on purpose but more instinct. I heard myself fall into my “Trainer voice” as I said, “Now click over here.” Then I heard a fellow employee says, “Look, Dave is in his element.” They were right. While I still help people on a daily basis, teaching software face-to-face is something I’ve done for over 20 years. It is my native tongue, and I loved every minute of it. There is nothing better than having someone come in confused and leave confident.
SCHOOL OF PODCASTING
Should Your Podcast Have a Newsletter? More Info
FYI this episode took multiple interviews and combined them in a narrative style which had me spending 4 hours to get the content ready for the episode. For some of these interviews, I used Rumble Studio. It was weird as a large benefit from interviews is the relationship you build, and while this worked, the “asynchronous interview” is very different. It also was a lot of work. With this in mind, I got more than usual feedback on, “Hey that was a great show..” Shocking that doing something “outside the norm” makes you stand out.

FYI: I accidentally went from episode 426 to 428, and then back to get 427. I’m waiting for the Podcast Police to show up at my door…
PODCAST RODEO SHOW
My Aloof Vagina
With a name like that, how can you not click? A show about a serious subject (menopause) that doesn’t take itself so seriously. MORE INFORMATION
Roland VR-1HD - AV Streaming Mixer
First, I had no idea Roland did “video stuff.” It clocks in at $1000 and is like a Rodecaster, and Video Switcher had a baby (although there is no recording built into this). This took me down a rabbit hole, and I just smile as I see more companies making more products geared toward creators.
Three Dudes and a Piano
I remember the show “Rock School” on PBS, and I have this quick segment on Harmony on a cassette I thought it was so cool. So yes, the audio is out of sync, and yes it’s from a VHS tape, but no auto-tune or studio tricks. A great example of “The great ones make it look easy” THIS LINK fast forwards to the good stuff.
This is somewhat ironic as I have to run and drive to Nashville for the weekend where I will be speaking. This means this week I’ve done three presentations (not complaining). My next episode is on “Overwhlem” based on some feedback from podcasters at Podcast Movement Evolutions. I’ve talked about this in the past, but this time I’m going to share a strategy using three free tools to help you manage the non-stop onslaught of this thing called life so you don’t lose your mind trying to podcast. Follow the show and never miss an episode.
I also need to play with Podium (yet another AI transcription service that you upload an episode and it spits out descriptions, summaries, etc). This seems similar to Capsho and SwellAi (and I need to see if there is anything that makes each platform stand out.
